" The question is not what you look at.....but what you see."                                                                                                  Henry David Thoreau

Art has been a part of my life since I was a little girl.  I would spend endless hours coloring, painting, drawing and cutting-out paper dolls.  My mother said I hummed the whole time too.  I know I cannot live without this passion called creating and am thankful that I am now living my dream daily.

I share space in Studio 7.5 with 3 other women artists.  The building is super conducive to painting with its large windows and wonderful light.  I love the atmosphere here in this antique building in historic Canal Winchester, Ohio.  I live right down the street and can walk there whenever I wish!  We have lots of display space to exhibit our work and visitors can see where we make our art.  I recently renovated my area and added more wall space to define my own studio.

I work in acrylic, watercolor and inks mainly, but also do collages on occasion.  My work is diverse in subject matter but often inspired by nature.  I love color and emphasize strong design, composition and movement.  I would describe by art as spontaneous responses to what I see and feel at the time.  I enjoy producing works that are impressions of what I see and feel rather than realistic representations. I paint with emotion and it is my hope that the viewer can feel something too when they see it.

My educational background is in art education.  I taught art for 30 years both in the elementary and secondary levels.  My degrees are:  BS in Art Education from Capital University and MA in Art Education from The Ohio State University both located in Columbus, Ohio.  I adored my teaching career but now it is time for me to express myself through my artwork.

I exhibit my work in shows and venues in the area and belong to the Central Ohio Watercolor Society and the Canal Winchester Art Guild.  My work is in private collections around the United States and in the permanent collection of Schumacher Gallery at Capital University.  Over the years I have won awards in shows, exhibits, and competitions mainly in the Ohio region.
